Granite Springs
Granite Springs is one of the newer subdivisions on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. It boasts large lots and beautiful upscale homes. As with other parts of town, many of the lots are built right alongside national forest service land, offering endless miles for outdoor adventures and discoveries.
Utilities are all underground in this part of town, which definitely appeals to the residents. The large, landscaped lots are tucked away from the noise of traffic, but due to its location, Granite Springs offers convenient access to everything.
There are three schools that serve the Granite Springs neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
